My husband set his cigarette on the jamb extension of our brand new windows and burnt a hole can this be repaired?
Yes. We can make the burn completely disappear.
How do you determine what a window will cost to repair?
All our repairs are based on piece work which means we charge per window or per job, not per hour. So if we quote you $100.00 to fix a burn and the job takes us 3 hours to complete you are still only billed $100.00.
How long does the average job take to complete?
This will depend on the damage however most of the repairs can be competed in under an hour.
After a recent hail storm in the area my PVC windows suffered a quarter size hole in the frames. What can be done about this?
Frames N Panes has developed a process to remake the plastic on site and repair the hole. After the job is completed the hole disappears completely.
My windows were damaged by hail, does Frames N Panes work directly with insurance companies?
Yes we do. We have worked directly with a few of Canada's biggest insurance companies including Wawanesa, ING and State Farm. If you would like to use our service and your insurance company is unfamiliar with our service we would be happy to call them and explain our service to them on your behalf.
Can you fix exterior damage if the temperature is below freezing?
No. Our products will not set up properly if the weather is below freezing. We will take your name and number and come back in the spring to finish the job.
My window frames are brown can you match that color?
Yes. Frames N Panes stocks many window company's frame colors. However if we don’t have it in stock our dealers can order the color they need. We can have it to them in about a week.
We have damage to our windows on the 3rd story. Can Frames N Panes fix this as well?
Yes we can. If we are not able to reach the window with a ladder we might have to have someone bring in some scaffolding, but either way we will get the job done for you.
Moisture Removal
How much does it cost to repair a foggy window?
Defogging a window costs approximately 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of replacement, depending on the size of the unit.
What is the warranty on service?

Can you do my skylights?
No, we do vertical glass only.
Can you do my patio doors?
Yes we can. Patio doors are made from tempered glass, so we use a slightly different process. Contact your local Frames N Panes dealer for more info on how this is done
Can you fix my Low E, heat mirror or other specialty glass?
Yes we can. Specialty glass needs to be analyzed on a case by case basis though. Keep in mind, 92% of all glass is regular annealed glass and can be fixed.
My windows have argon gas in them. Can they still be repaired?
Yes. If moisture has gotten into the window through a leak in the seal, the argon gas has escaped. The repair process for an argon gas filled window would be the same for a window that did not have any gas in the window.
Does your process remove the stains inside the glass?
Yes. We have a cleaner that can remove minor stains on the glass, however if there is substantial calcium build-up or glass etching we recommend window replacement. Like to see how the process is completed ? Click here to see our video.
I live on the 10th floor, can you help me?
Yes, first and second story windows are done from the outside and third story and above are done from the inside.
Does the failed window have to be removed to do your restoration work?
No, our process removes trapped window moisture without having to take out the window or disturbing exterior window capping or interior/exterior finish.
How long does the process take?
Depending on window size and location it takes approximately 30-45 minutes to restore a failed window.
How long will it take my windows to clear up after the restoration process?
There is no exact answer to this question. It will depend on the size of the window, the amount of moisture in the frame and the orientation of the window to the sun. On average the moisture should be gone with in 10-12 weeks.
Are you able to remove moisture from windows that have muttin bars or blinds in between the panes?
Yes, our franchisees can repair this problem as well.
How do you get the moisture out of the sealed unit?
The Frames N Panes process works by drilling 2 small holes in the glass. We then use specialy designed tools to clean and then extract the liquid from in between the window panes. What is Solar pumping?
Solar pumping naturally occurs during the change from day to night. Sunlight heats the inner airspace of the IGU (insulated Glass Unit) during the day and causes the window to pressurize, which forces out small amounts of air within the window cavity through the semi-permeable seal. In the evening, as the temperature drops, the window cools and creates a low pressure area causing small amounts of air to be drawn back into the inner window cavity. The air being drawn back into the window naturally holds moisture and this moisture is absorbed by the windows desiccant material.
Screen Repair
I have a tear in my kitchen window screen, can this be repaired?
Yes. We carry everything we need to complete the job on our service truck so we can complete the job on site.
My screen frame is broken, can this be repaired?
In most cases yes however if we are unable to repair the damaged frame we can build you a new one.
I have a cat and would like a pet door installed in my screen door, do you offer this service?
Yes we do.
I need screens built for my windows, can you make brown ones?
Yes. Although most franchisees only stock white frame material, we can custom order just about any color.
How long does it take to re-screen a window?
Most windows can be re-screened in about 30 mins.
